ENSIGN  - Power station main steam condenser case studies
Avoid an expensive condenser re-tube or repair

POWER STATION A - Long Service
A large UK power station wished to protect their vulnerable copper nickel condenser tube from inlet end erosion.  Ensign Self Expanding Venturi Inserts were fitted to all tubes in three condenser sets in 1985.  The original inserts are still in service after over 20 years.  No adhesives were needed to hold the inserts in place.

POWER STATION B - Bullet Through Ensign Venturi Inserts
A nuclear power station needed to both protect their aluminum brass tubes from inlet erosion and allow bullet cleaning through the protected tube inlets.  Wide Bore Ensign Venturi Inserts were fitted to all condenser tubes at the station and the tubes successfully bulleted through the inserts.  This station has been protected by Ensign Venturi Inserts since 1978 and has never had to re-tube.

POWER STATION C - Fit to worn tubes
A coal fired power station was experiencing severe inlet erosion of its condenser tubes with 40% wall loss occurring after only three years.  Custom Ensign Debris Screen Venturi Inserts were manufactured to suit the worn tubes and fitted to all tubes in two units.  No further problems have been experienced to date (over 5 years).

POWER STATION D - Stop tube leaks
A UK power station was experiencing large numbers of tube leaks caused by partial blockages of the tubes.  the incidence of tube leaks dropped by 42% after fitting Ensign Debris Screen Venturi Inserts.  This figure would have been far higher had the station fitted the inserts to new tubes.
